Four
steel-framed buildings over 2 underground parking
garages house a total of 573,536 square feet and
1491 parking stalls. Long-span floor beams allowed
column-free spaces along the windows on all sides.
Permanent soil nailing was used for excavation
bracing to reduce the cost of the basement substructure.
Special slab-to-wall release details allowed shortening
of the large post-tensioned slabs while minimizing
slab cracking. Constructed in 1999, the buildings
are currently owned by Microsoft Corporation. CPL
